A welcome letter from Mrs. Durdan...Our students are working to integrate technology into the curriculum as we use the new Pearson Science online and access lessons and work from Google Classroom. We use the Chromebooks several times a week to compliment all subject areas with interactive websites.
The Math lessons are built around guided instruction and collaborative problem solving with the use of a standard based work book and hands on exploration. Science, as well, provides many opportunities to explore and discover with projects and activities that lead to knowledge. Our class Tower Garden has been an excellent opportunity to participate in measuring, observation, and even tasting of plants that students may not have had a chance to experience before. We participate in service projects that encourage students to put their faith studies into action. Several times a year we collect for various groups as a whole school. Third grade has two service projects that have become part of the class tradition. During October we make and sell popcorn hands to the student body and in Lent we sponsor a fun fair for the primary grades. Students see the value of helping others and sharing in the blessings God has given us. We also make cards and often visit the nursing care facilities to bring cheer and comfort to those who are residents. The students in third grade meet many challenges and grow by leaps and bounds as they prepare for the transition to middle school. |
