A welcome letter from Mrs. Miller... |
In Kindergarten, children learn to pray. They learn that God loves them and how to live as friends of Jesus. They learn about our church family.
In Language Arts, children review alphabet letters and sounds. Children learn to read using phonetic skills. They memorize high-frequency words. They practice many comprehension strategies. At the end of Kindergarten, they write and illustrate a story! In math, we begin the year learning about patterns and sorting. We learn characteristics of 2D and 3D shapes. We eventually learn to add and subtract within 5 and how to decompose numbers. In science, we learn about motion, living things, and the earth and sky. In Social Studies, we learn about the holidays, dental health, fire safety, and personal safety. We also learn how to get along with others. We learn to share, take turns, and problem solve. We practice good manners. We have a lot of fun in a joyful, loving, and safe environment! |
